Question by Emily P: Why is it so dificult for a plane to return to the USA from Cuba?
My boyfriend was suppose to return from Cuba to Miami this afternoon but his flight was canceled. However there are no weather restrictions in the area… This has happened before with another person I know. why is this?

  1. It was probably under -booked.(that is there just weren’t enough passengers to make it viable financially for the air carrier)

    These can be cancelled on short notice without the same restrictions that regular passenger flights face (for example -having to put people up in hotels until another flight is available)-these flights are operated as “charter flights” since regular passenger service is still forbidden by the economic embargo.

    If anyone thinks there is no air service between the US and Cuba this is incorrect-12 US airports are authorized to receive flights from Cuba-the biggest problem for US citizens is getting approval from the State Dept. to go there-but thousands do get it each year for religious/humanitarian trips amongst other things.
